The warmth of the sunny day is immense as we board into the train from Kalyan station in the morning. With couple of bags packed with snacks and water, we left for Kalsubai, known as the mountain with the highest peak in Maharashtra. So, after gazing at the beauty of the nature from inside the train, we were present at Igatpuri Railway Station within two hours and the excitement increased as we got closer to the base of the mountain. We took an auto up to a place called Ghoti from where we booked a car for Baari Village which is the base or the starting point for the Kalsubai trek. Several mountains and their giant structures were visible from a distant and our enthusiasm for the trek leveled up as we got closer to Baari. After fifteen minutes of travel, the environment is peaceful and calm all the way up to Baari. The open air has a fresh effect on our mind and finally, forgetting the congestion of the city and daily routine, our mind is at liberty.

Pleasant Sunrise View

Admiring the beauties of nature of hiking, sight of wild flowers and trees, we finally stepped down at Baari village and commenced the hike to the top of Kalsubai mountain in the afternoon by 3 PM. When we were trekking for past one hour, we were advised that there are no shops after this stop. We already had enough food and water with us for the whole trek so that was not a problem for us. We continued the trek taking snaps and videos of ourselves and the sights which are absolutely worth taking. It’s all about the pleasure and thrill of the trek in such a huge mountainous region which makes us climb up to the top. There were times when we got a bit exhausted and we took a break in the middle to enjoy the view, scenes and various colors of nature. We waited to see the mountains and hilltop covered with densely heavily grown trees and plants.
After another hour, I was heavily exhausted and wasn’t quite ready to continue the trek, but I had set a goal to something that I had never thought I could. Physically, I was half drenched, but emotionally, I was psyched. I knew if I make it to the top, I will enjoy the amazing scenes. So, I gained a little confidence and boosted up myself for this and continued forward.

A picture at the peak

After three or three and half hours of trekking and making up the last ladder, we were finally at the top of the Kalsubai mountain. The view on all the sides from this height was more than amazing which cannot be probably expressed in words. It has nothing to do with the base to top, but everything is with the thing that how we felt in the wildness of the mountain and the pleasure and enthusiasm in the sights. With what it’s like to trek for hours to witness this view, mountain, rocks, rivers, grasses and sunset. The experience was powerful and purely energetic and the feeling of unlimited freedom made our hearts leap with joy.

Soon, it began to rain and we had to go ten minutes back where we found a shed to spend the night. We spend the night talking to each other about their experiences around the firewood. As the cold wind blows in the wild, we smiled and laughed in the warmth of the fire between us. Indeed, it was a night to remember.

We decided to go back to the top as early as possible to view the environment in clear sky. So, we buckled up ourselves and got ourselves ready by 5 AM in the morning. As the peak was ten minutes away, we moved on gazing at the places which were not visible during the last dark night. There were other people who came up at the same time trekking the whole night.

We reached the peak from where we could the trail of mountains in addition to the most beautiful thing ever, the sunrise. The whole of Baari village can be clearly seen from the peak and we can clearly experience ourselves in the middle of clouds passing by. Truly, the Kalsubai trek is a thrilling experience and a manly adventure. To put it another way, there is always an adventure in the woods.
