It has been rightly said that “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” This quote always inspires me to pack up everything and head out into the unknown to explore the farthest reaches of our world. I, personally believe that to travel is to live. I look for places that are less-known and less-visited as I had always been curious about finding off-beat places. It’s like a quest to find beautiful and breath-taking places.

In my quest to find such places, I came across a small village in Himachal Pradesh named Rashol. The pictures on the internet were so enticing that I couldn’t stop myself and I made a plan to visit that place the same week. I called some of my friends and three of them agreed to join me on this trip. We packed our bags the next day, and we left from Delhi.

To reach Rashol, we had to take a Volvo bus from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Delhi to Bhuntar, Himachal Pradesh. The entire journey took eleven hours, and we had reached Bhuntar at six o’clock in the morning. From there, we took a taxi to Kasol that took another hour. Twelve hours on road and we had still not reached Rashol yet. Well, good things take time. We knew that it’s all worth the effort. Kasol was just a milestone, Rashol was still five hours away from there. To reach Rashol, one must do a trek of four or five hours from Kasol. After twelve hours of journey, we were extremely tired, so we planned to rest in Kasol for a day.

The next day, we woke up early, got our gears ready, had breakfast, and we left for Rashol. Around seven o’clock in the morning, the weather looked magical, the soft cold breeze felt so good after living the entire summers in Delhi. The sun was hiding somewhere between the mountains and the dense clouds. I took my camera out and started clicking pictures. Oh! what a beauty. I remember saying this so many times as I walked through the mountains on a small path.

First, we crossed the market in Kasol and we reached a narrow bridge over the Parvati river. The flow of the river was really high, and the waves seemed to be dancing and singing as they passed the valley. We crossed the bridge and walked to our first milestone that is Chalal. The view on the way was just phenomenal. On the way, we came across beautiful valleys, small cafes, tea stalls, and much more. However, the best part was the view along the way. The path is rocky and very narrow. Only two people can walk on this path alongside. As you move ahead, you will see that you are going higher and higher on the mountain. The Parvati river will go further away as you move closer to Rashol. We took several breaks on the way as walking five hours straight isn’t something I can do.

After a long trekking, we had finally reached Rashol. It’s a small village in Himachal Pradesh. You won’t find many people here as it’s a peaceful place where people can come and camp in isolation or meditate. This place is alluring and heavenly with a spectacular landscape. It is indeed a paradise on earth. The enchanting view of the mountains covered with snow on the peaks made a perfect shot. I clicked several pictures and then we started looking for a place to camp and spend the night. We found a nice spot to set up our camps, and we started assembling our tents. Soon, we had finished all the hectic work like making a camp, setting up a small fire, and fetching some woods.

Now, it was time to have a fun evening. The sun was about to go down and we had the perfect spot to see the sunset. I had heard and read a lot about this place and I was finally here, looking right at the alluring nature and sun-kissed mountains. What a view! I remember saying these exact same words. In just a few hours, it becomes really dark and the fire was the only source of light. We had torches for emergency use too. There aren’t any dangerous animals here so you can relax and enjoy. In the night, we danced, sang, and had a lot of fun. We had a huge bag filled with candies, chocolates, muffins, and packaged food. Also, we had made sandwiches, burgers, sausages, and salad for this trip. All night, we were talking, playing games, and watching the stars. In the day, you will find get a view of the blissful nature and in the night, you can see the vibrant and picture-perfect sky with tons of stars. If you have insomnia like me, then you can also stay up till the sunrise or you can rest the night in your camps. Make sure that you have enough blankets or sleeping bags as it can get extremely cold at night.

In the morning, you will hear the birds sing and butterflies dance. The early morning view from the Rashol top is flawless and beguiling.  Sitting there, I felt a blissful feeling of content and harmony rush inside of me. I sat there for a while absorbing the positive vibes. The beauty of snow-capped mountains, rocky pathways, and awe-inspiring nature added to the heavenly view. In the morning, we felt so happy to have come here. The long journey had paid off, and we had one of the best nights of our lives. We packed up our stuff, and we left for Kasol in the afternoon. We had reached Kasol in the evening and we spent our rest of the vacation in Kasol. Even today, I get visions from that day and I feel the same blissful feeling. In the future, I wish to visit that place again. It has secured the top spot on my favorite destinations’ list.
